1. About this policy

Haoxue Chinese offers Chinese enrichment classes and holiday culture camps for children in Singapore. This policy explains what personal data we collect about you and your child, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

We handle personal data in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

2. What we collect

When you enquire, register or book. This usually includes:

  • your name, email address, phone number and home address
  • a second contact person, if you give us one
  • your child's name, date of birth, gender and school
  • your child's Mandarin level and interests
  • your child's allergies, dietary requirements and any medical conditions you tell us about
  • which classes or camp weeks you have chosen
  • your answers to our photo, refund and liability questions
  • how you heard about us, if you tell us

If you name a second contact, please make sure that person is happy for you to give us their details.

When you pay. Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive a record of the payment, the email address used and the amount. We do not see or store your card or bank details.

When you contact us. We keep a record of our correspondence with you, including email and WhatsApp messages, so that we can follow up properly and pick up where we left off.

When you visit our website. Google Analytics collects information about pages visited, how you arrived, general location (city level) and device type. We do not use it to identify you.

3. Why we collect it

  • to answer your enquiry
  • to enrol your child and run the class or camp safely — allergy and medical information is used to look after your child during sessions
  • to invoice you and keep our accounts
  • to keep in touch about our classes and camps (see section 6)
  • to understand and improve our website

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing.

We use trusted service providers to run the business — including website hosting, payments, email and messaging, and software tools that help us organise and review our records. Some of these providers process data outside Singapore. We take reasonable steps to ensure they protect your data to a standard comparable to the PDPA.

We will also disclose personal data where the law requires it.

5. How we protect it

We take reasonable steps to protect personal data against unauthorised access, use or loss.

6. Keeping in touch

We may contact you about your enquiry, your booking, and the classes or camps your child is attending.

We may also tell you about our other classes and camps. If you would prefer we did not, tell us at any time and we will stop.

7. How long we keep it

We keep personal data for as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, and for as long as the law requires. Financial records are kept for at least 5 years, as Singapore law requires.

8. Children

Our classes and camps are for children, but our dealings are with you as the parent or guardian. When you give us information about your child, you confirm that you are their parent or guardian, or are otherwise authorised to give consent on their behalf.

9. Photographs

We ask separately whether you consent to your child appearing in photographs we publish on our website and social media. You can withdraw that consent at any time and we will stop using your child's image going forward.

10. Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you, and how we have used or disclosed it in the past year
  • correct anything that is inaccurate
  • withdraw your consent, where we rely on it

Email haoxuechinesesg@gmail.com. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can, and will let you know if it is going to take longer than 30 days. Please note that withdrawing your consent may mean we can no longer provide a class or camp place.

11. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell our Data Protection Officer at haoxuechinesesg@gmail.com and we will look into it.

12. Cookies

Google Analytics uses cookies to recognise returning visitors and measure sessions. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the website will still work.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows the most recent version.
